AB enjoys black coffee, watching Action/Adventure/Fantasy/Sci-Fi films, the Oxford comma, and waxing poetic about functional shoes. He suffers from a slight Napoleon Complex and some sort of attention deficit disorder, which he credits to his ability to teach multiple people at once. Speaking of which he’s a big fan of Napoleon pockets.. and pants with four-way stretch.. and shoes. Did we mention that?
Andrew’s fitness journey started in high school with Sports Medicine. After moving to Seattle he attended the pilot Personal Fitness Instructor program at Ashmead College in 2006. He landed a job at a “big box” gym where he moved up to Fitness Management and built a reputation doing “weird shit” like full-depth back squats and snatches. That gym valued sales over members goals, so he left to start FCF with a client inside a storage unit. That was almost a decade ago.
Now you can find him coaching Olympic Weightlifting at 6am and various CrossFit classes throughout the week.

Hailing from the sunny state of California, his aerospace career brought him up to the NW where he trained with AB all the way back at FCF 1.0 in 2008. The two of them then decided to reopen up Foundation CrossFit in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle with a new game plan and new purpose. Because FCF isn’t just a gym, but a think tank meant to eventually change the world!
Tony started his fitness career as a young buck needed to relieve the stress of the day job, and to supplement his volleyballing, surfing, and general beach bumming. He started CrossFitting in Huntington Beach until work moved him to Seattle.
Now you can find him operating the gym and rebuilding our website while preparing for his first olympic weightlifting meet!
The First Lady of FCF, Freckled Flourishes Calligraphy
Dubbed “First Lady” for a reason: Sheena has been there since the beginning. Her first ever CrossFit workout was Fight Gone Bad and still loves that work out to this day. In August 2016, she became a first time mama to a baby girl aka the #magicalbabyjedi and is also dog-mama to the gym mascot Appa the Frenchie. When she’s not lovin’ on her babies you can find her back to coaching, working out and building her calligraphy hobby into a business.
If Gaia, Mother of the Earth, made love to a Titan, you’d get Coach Sarah–or SMOHR, as her teammates call her because you’ll certainly want that, some more. With all the warmth of the sun, her award winning hugs will remedy your cloudy day and anoint you with the strength and power of your untapped potential. She can be found training for triathlons, tending to her farm, and will soon be rescuing limp bodies from burning buildings.
Coffee-Enthusiast, Lover of all things Gymnastics
Andrea is our Matriarch of the Morning and Mother to Gino, whose lifetime of gymnastics experience informs her exceptional body awareness, ability, and teaching, but also shows on her face when you try her because Mama Ain’t Got Time. If you’re wondering if you’re on her good side or bad side, the answer is always a resounding, “Yes.” She can be found with wee babe attached to hip or t*t and making sure you leave the gym how you found it.
Weightlifter Extraordinaire, Pop Tart Connoisseur
Coach Adrian was an alien sent to Earth to round out FCF’s barbell club. It’s the only way to explain how he magically showed up at our doorstep one day – that or if you believe in Destiny. He brings a decade of Olympic Weightlifting experience, training with some of the country’s elite athletes, and rules his class of hooligans like the general of an army. When he’s not too busy yelling at people to “JUMP, PUSH BACK!” he can be found at the grocery store squeezing produce because–oh yeah–he’s also a professionally-trained cook.
Why yes, those familiar buns of steel do belong to our very own Gus. Man of Mystery with a Heart of Gold, Advocate for the Downtrodden and Disenfranchised, he specializes in uplifting your spirit and gluteus maximus. Never not working, when he’s not at FCF, he and the dinosaur on his leg can be found patiently taking your brunch order or begrudgingly shopping for craft supplies with his boyfriend.
Find him doing personal training with masters (50+) and post-injury athletes, and coaching mornings and afternoons, when not modeling for Tom Boy X.
Raised in the swamplands of the Everglades, “Miami,” as he is otherwise known, cut his teeth as personal trainer to the stars (Russell Brand) and appeared as a fitness model in wildly successful regional infomercials for the Ab Roller Deluxe. Now a Masters athlete, he balances his time sharing his knowledge and wisdom with the younger generation and can often be found taking care of his body that has served him well over in Mobility Corner. Dog father to Disa.
Jessie was a three sport athlete in high school, played some college softball, and was introduced to her love of hiking in college while taking a class where they hiked at night. After college she became a weekend warrior. Life turned more and more sedentary as she aged and found herself at a corporate desk job which was slowly killing her, mentally and physically. After finding CrossFit, she wants to give back to the community that has changed her life by helping others transform their lives. You can find her working out at 6AM, coaching AM classes, or behind our front desk as Office Manager.
A practitioner some forms of Chinese Medicine and CrossFit, Leslie is amazingly proficient at being objective about people’s bodies and how to improve them. Hailing from Boise, ID her favorite movie is The Breakfast Club and her favorite food is Kale. Before CrossFit she was a runner/cyclist/swimmer. When not CFing Les like to telemark and skate ski, as well as farm and garden. She found out that building chicken coops require much strength and stamina, and raising them requires speed, mobility, agility, and accuracy FOR REAL!
Endurance Club Captain, Skiing Master
Growing up, James stayed active with every sport imaginable: swimming, tennis, baseball, basketball, soccer, water polo, lacrosse, triathlons, track, skiing, as well as brief stints into brazilian jiu-jitsu, fencing, and pole vaulting. After freshman year of high school, he decided to focus on swimming with 3-4 hours of pool time and over 6,000 calories a day, ultimately culminating in All-American Consideration times and a visit to U.S. Swimming Nationals.
Murse by day, murse by night, Coach Mark prefers to learn things the hard way – just ask him about his missing finger. He is FCF’s Original Success Story, so don’t go complaining to him about your fitness troubles…unless you need first aid, then he should definitely be your first choice. He can be found–hardly ever–grunting under a barbell on some evenings sometimes or bro-ing out on his chest and biceps in the back near the mirror.
Nathan started his CrossFit career with FCF in 2011 and has been a prime example of what hard work and dedication can produce! Being an athlete his whole life, Nathan played baseball on Seattle U’s club team and continues to enjoy all outdoor activities – from hiking to wake surfing to snow skiing. He loves coffee, dogs, traveling, whiskey, the Fast and Furious movies, and during the day he enjoys working as a web designer.
Tina is a late bloomer, who got hooked on Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in her late 20s. Her personal transformation inspired her to become a fitness professional in order to help others uncap their athletic potential. Her dream is to one day be a strength and conditioning coach for elite-level fighters. Her side dream is to have her own travel show where she gets to eat and drink her way around the world. Tina’s equal parts a lover and a fighter. And she’s never met a beer she didn’t like.
Ryan “Moonboots” Salva
Although he doesn’t look a day over 21, Mr. Salva is an easy going guy and, like most of the other staff, never thought himself to eventually become a CrossFit trainer. His advice: don’t CrossFit on an empty stomach- especially if the only thing you’ve eaten for the day was a cupcake for breakfast. This gem of knowledge came from his first CF workout that laid him out white as a ghost.
If not running the Howe Street stairs, watching movies or TV, reading comic books, or buying really nerdy collectibles, Patrick can be found swinging iron when leading our Kettlebell classes. In 2017 he plans to go minimalist with much of his life, rare action figures be damned!
After years of up-and-down weight and workout routines, Megan decided a CrossFit gym might be just the ticket to enabling healthy habits and maybe meet some people. CrossFit was interesting because she comes from a team sports background – softball, field hockey and volleyball were pretty much her life until grad school and became a full time nerd. She loved the idea of cross-training, having someone write the workouts for her, and the camaraderie and motivational benefits of team sports.
John through-hiked the Appalachian trail in 2005 and then lived in New York City for the next 7 years working in Film and Television on commercials, documentaries, reality-television, and independent movies. In 2009 he found and fell head over heels for CrossFit. He and his wife decided in 2012 that we had enough of NYC and moved to Seattle. Throughout the years he’s developed more and more of an interest in climbing. John has been able to accomplish climbs on the west coast that he never would have had the ability to do on the east coast.
Also as of late December 2016 he became a new father to a beautiful young boy Baxter Grace!
In West Philadelphia born and raised… just kidding! Ali has spent most of her years growing up in a small town in Eastern Washington and moved to the great city of Seattle three years ago to work in research. Hailing from a background of extreme sports Ali was looking for something to improve her mental toughness and overall fitness level. She heard about CrossFit through a friend and decided to give it a try. Three years and two gyms later you can now find her working on the Olympic lifts while trying to find excuses to get out of rowing any time it’s programmed in the WOD.
Scientist by day and endurance enthusiast by night when she’s not in the gym she’s usually found running GORUCK events or climbing ice/rocks/mountains. In her down time Ali enjoys hanging out with her rad dog Jake and rapping to the Best of DMX.

Kelsi found CrossFit back in 2013 with us at CrossFit SLU. Hailing from an active background that focused primarily on HIIT and cardio work, she fell for the constantly varied functional movements that we utilize day in and day out. When not at lifting or CrossFitting in the morning, you can find her working at Cody App, or somewhere in the wilderness writing about life.
